About Living in the Know
Living in the Know Counselling offers online, neurodivergent-affirming counselling and support for individuals and families navigating neurodivergence, burnout, overwhelm, life changes, and the emotional impact of feeling different in a world that often expects everyone to fit the same mould.
Support is available for late-diagnosed and self-identifying neurodivergent adults, parents and carers, and families supporting neurodivergent children and young people. Areas of interest include ADHD, autism, PDA, anxiety, ARFID, OCD, ODD, Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, psychosocial conditions, physical disabilities, and intellectual disabilities.
This includes support for children and young people experiencing “school can’t” - when attending school, completing work, or meeting everyday expectations feels impossible, rather than simply something they’re unwilling to do.
The approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, culturally safe, and chronic illness aware. Counselling can explore the impact of demands, anxiety, sensory differences, burnout, and the need for autonomy, with support shaped around what feels realistic for the individual.
For parents and carers, counselling can also provide space to work through exhaustion, worry, and uncertainty around supporting a child who is struggling with school, expectations, or everyday life.
The focus isn’t on making neurodivergent people fit more comfortably into systems that may not work for them. It’s on helping people better understand themselves, recognise and communicate their needs, and develop strategies that work with their brain rather than against it.
