About Lived Experienced Social Work

Lived Experience Social Work offers online counselling, case management, and advocacy with Meg, a queer and trans, chronically ill, Mad, and neurodivergent practitioner.

Meg brings their own lived experience together with university qualifications in Social Work, Mental Health Practice, and Suicidology, as well as ongoing professional development. Their practice is grounded in peer work and radical social work, with an approach that recognises people as the experts in their own experiences.

Support is flexible and can be adapted around what you need. Meg works with people experiencing suicidal thoughts and people who have survived suicide attempts, including recent attempts. They also work with people who may have been described elsewhere as “too much”, “too complex”, or “too high-risk”.

Alongside counselling and therapeutic support, Meg can help with practical and systemic barriers. This may include body doubling during sessions, writing support letters, advocacy with other providers or systems, and helping you work through difficult systems when you don’t have the spoons to do it alone.

Areas of interest and expertise include ADHD, anxiety, autism, and psychosocial conditions. The practice is trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, HAES-aligned and weight-neutral, culturally safe, and chronic illness aware.
