About Therapy Shmerapy
Therapy Shmerapy is a grassroots peer mental health service providing online support nationally and internationally. Their team is neurodivergent and trans/gender-diverse, bringing lived experience into the way they connect with and support people.
They offer peer counselling and lived experience practitioner support as an alternative to more traditional clinical models. Their approach aims to reduce clinical distance and create space for people to connect person-to-person.
Their practice is trauma-informed, neuroaffirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming, HAES-aligned and weight-neutral, culturally safe, and chronic illness aware. Their approach is also informed by mad pride and a depathologising understanding of mental health, recognising that experiences labelled as illness can also be responses to the systems and circumstances people are living within.
Support is available for young adults through to older adults, including people navigating ADHD, anxiety, ARFID, autism, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, dyslexia, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, intellectual disability, OCD, ODD, PDA, physical disability, and psychosocial conditions.
